Hire a data analyst first
Let’s raise the tough question:
How can SMBs implement data analytics when they have neither the budget for a full data team nor the expertise to leverage external experts?
How are they supposed to compete, manage risks, and grow while relying purely on gut feelings?
We have a couple of dashboards with Google Analytics data and our marketing agency sends us excel reports monthly
Really? 🤯
Even department heads in enterprises face similar challenges: they need to turn data into clarity, yet often have even less power and more bureaucracy to fight with.
Few things are as frustrating as seeing people who do their jobs great, yet get exploited because they lack analytics expertise in their team. The situation gets even worse if they are exploited not by other people but ad platform algorithms (hey, view-through conversions!).
If this sounds familiar, my bit of advice would be simple: hire a data analyst.
Tell them everything about your goals and your pain points, share interesting tasks, make sure they don't waste time on routine, etc.
Yes, it’s just the first step — but it’s the one that makes all the other steps possible.
